Social Media Messaging & Tips

General Tips

• Join the online conversation and document your journey using the hashtag #TeenArtsWeek.
• Follow 92Y on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, as well as other participating organizations’ social accounts. Be sure to tag us and use the hashtag so we will see and engage with your content.
• Be consistent with event promotion (try to share event information weekly).
• Make copy engaging and think about what can add value to the audience; do what resonates with your audience.
• Example: Get excited because Teen Arts Week is back with more incredible events and workshops for teens across all boroughs! Check out all the amazing FREE events, for teens, by teens and register today! 92y.org/teen-arts-week
• Utilize Instagram/Facebook Stories, Instagram/Facebook Live, Twitter threads, etc.

For Teens

• Join the conversation: Share pictures, videos and comments on social media about/from #TeenArtsWeek events you attend and/or anything arts-related using the hashtag.
• Tag your friends in posts and encourage them to share with their followers/friends.

For Arts Organizations

• Post about your #TeenArtsWeek program pre-event, during and post-event using the hashtag.
• Host a Facebook Live, Twitter Chat or share an Instagram Story with arts influencers to engage your community in the conversation during #TeenArtsWeek.
• Launch a new fundraising or awareness campaign for your institution tying into #TeenArtsWeek. Use the hashtag and let your constituents know that you are a part of the initiative and how valuable your programming is for teens.
• Run social media ads to collect leads and sign ups for your events.

For Educators

• Organize a special event, lecture or keynote about the arts and/or careers in the arts and post about it using the hashtag #TeenArtsWeek.
• Appoint faculty, career planning counselors, and student ambassadors and engage them to spread the word about #TeenArtsWeek and your plans for the week.
• Host a Facebook Live, Twitter Chat or share an Instagram Story with arts influencers to engage your community in the conversation before, during and after #TeenArtsWeek.
• Create a new arts-focused lesson guide or curriculum to engage students and faculty in a conversation about the arts and careers in the arts during #TeenArtsWeek.
• Provide small incentives to students to help encourage event attendance (if necessary).

Pre-event Messaging

• Announce your event on social media with the predetermined creative.
  • Sample post/tweet: #TeenArtsWeek is back! From March 2-8, over 30 cultural orgs across all five boroughs present a week full of FREE arts events—for teens by teens. If you’re in the arts, we have an event for you. Visit 92y.org/TeenArtsWeek for more. Tell your friends!
• Be sure to link to 92y.org/teenartsweek and/or your event registration pages to have participants register for your event.
• Post assets from the social media toolkit and use #TeenArtsWeek.

During Your Event Messaging

• Share pictures/videos on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter of your speakers, artists and participants.
• Livestream your event. Facebook Live is an easy way to stream. Consider doing pre or post Facebook Live/Twitter Chat interviews with guests.
• Repost user generated content during the event
  • Posts can be found via hashtag tracking or location tags

Post-Event Messaging

• Share pictures and/or video and a quick recap of the conversations, ideas and topics you explored during your even using the hashtag #TeenArtsWeek.
• Thank everyone for helping to produce a successful week.
• Gather some comments/quotes from speakers, artists and participants, amplifying their thoughts about the event.
