Cardiac Rehab Program

The Cardiac Rehab Program offers Phase III Cardiac Rehabilitation for a healthy heart, mind and body.

It includes a personalized exercise program designed by the program's exercise physiologist and cardiologist consisting of three sessions a week of aerobic exercise and resistance training.

Richard A. Stein, MD and Nieca Goldberg, MD, medical directors

Program Description

The Cardiac Rehab Program is specifically designed to lower your risk of heart attack, improve your general level of fitness and promote overall health and well-being. Included are individual exercise prescriptions based on your medical evaluation and progress in the supervised exercise sessions.

We offer a versatile, mainstream exercise program in a pleasant, safe and supportive atmosphere and recommend that you exercise at least three days per week in our supervised exercise sessions.

Your group exercise sessions include multi-station aerobic exercises in our 5,000 square-foot state-of-the-art Cardio Court. These sessions are supervised by certified exercise physiologists specially trained to work in cardiac exercise and prevention. Although you will be exercising with many others who share similar needs, your program will be designed for you specifically.

Facts About Coronary Heart Disease

According to figures published by The American Heart Association, almost one million people die of cardiovascular disease each year, averaging a death every 33 seconds. Many more have some form of coronary heart disease such as angina or chest pain or have had coronary artery bypass surgery or angioplasty. Still others have heart disease risk factors without knowing that they may be potential heart attack victims.

Research has demonstrated that careful control of cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking and physical inactivity can prevent the development and progression of coronary heart disease. Recent data from the Agency for Health Care Policy Research has shown that if you have had a heart attack, and participate in a cardiac rehabilitation program, your survival may be increased by 25% and you will enjoy an improved quality of life.
